No, no sign of Macklin yet.

The NT’s new Mnisiter for Indig. Policy, Marion Scrymgour, is due to meet her in Canberra this week. There has been an unconfirmed report (yesterday) that the $100 mil for health services is no longer available. I doubt that is an entirely accurate report.

I've just been reading random excerpts from your blog that I've only just come across (via John Quiggin). It is very depressing reading - even if I'm not entirely unfamiliar with the content of much of it. Since Rudd has promised to maintain the Intervention, I too have my fingers crossed for something that (a) recognizes the chronic nature of the issues and therefore needs long-term commitment; (b) actually implements the recommendations of the Children are Sacred report - why do we need more consultation when the consultation has already happened; (c) recognizes the complexity and symbiosis of many of the problems; (d) helps to build rather than destroy self-esteem in the communities. What are the chances?

Has Jenny Macklin been sighted up there yet?
